A message from Ozcord's leader:
Ksg perplexes me. Ksg has shown an undying patriotism to the commune with his helming of this project, but also, he still feels like a new Ozcordian. I believe Ksg has been in our community for a while, but it was only recently after a few episodes that he began engaging with the other members more. He would haunt our calls like a Greenland shark: silent, groggy, bacteria eating at the eyes, intimidating. He once accidentally turned on his camera, and we saw his grizzled face and shaved eyebrows. As he turned his camera away his fists looked like albino truck tyres as they prepare to shed. One day, fellow Ozcordian Aubrey said that she preferred David Bowie to Lou Reed and Ksg immediately disconnected from the call. He then initiated a private call with me and showed me his collection of jars that he screams into whenever somebody doesn’t like Lou Reed, he then proceeded to puke blood into the jars. It was here where I was reminded what I created Ozcord to do. I quit my job working at the foodbank and decided to work full time on rehabilitating Ksg and trying to develop his human skills. Ksg has since grown attached to me and has confided in me that while this album is supposed to represent a community (Ozcord) it ultimately is a shrine to Oswald (the person). Ksg is a great talent, while before I stepped in, that talent was expressed through temper tantrums and acts of great violence, that glitz beam has thankfully been redirected towards the avant-garde. I find this album to be genuinely incredible and I am very proud of Ksg for doing this project. Ksg’s stirrings of his mind-searing cauldron are ethereal and overstimulating to my autistic friend. At 4AM he called me and howled at me to write and record a poem for the album. I used this opportunity to teach Ksg about boundaries which we are still currently working on, but at the moment I feared for my life, so I recorded the poem which ends this album. I personally have not and will not listen to it, though I’m certain Mikhll’s (Complex Idiosyncrasies) guitar playing is spectacular.
Ksg if of course, not alone on this album. Owen Patrick Taylor, frontman of the infamous band Maestro Collage, takes control of the manic second track. While the creation of the commune of Ozcord was honestly quite recent, my experience with Owen goes far back. We went to the same school together in New York, though we stayed clear of each other’s paths: I was an artsy goth kid who had a pet tarantula; Owen was a jock who played on the sports team and had vaginal sex with the cheerleaders. One day I found Owen crying in the showers, I didn’t want to interrupt him, so I decided to hide in the camouflage of the water. He eventually took a bar of soap, stared at it lovingly, and began to sing into it with a true indie-pop swagger to his voice. I startled him by complimenting his musical abilities and he started blushing. He then confided in me that he didn’t want to be a jock; he wanted to make music, and that my compliment to him is what is going to push him to follow his heart. He then looked in my eyes and said, “thank you, Oswald” and he leaned in and kissed me on the lips. We made love several times that night. I believe that Owen’s track, a great stylistic departure from his work with Maestro Collage, speaks to the unhinged air of that night.
Liz (Mayfly Priestess), a long time Ozcordian, contributes the final track to this album. I met Liz recently while I was in Sacramento providing humane relief. She was wrapped up with the crips and came to me, scared and bloodied. I gave her sanctuary in my shelter and protected her from the gang wars which have taken so many talented artists like Liz away from us (Tupac, Biggie, etc). I brought her into Ozcord and she was initially hesitant to make friends with the commune. Every time somebody would approach her, she would butt her forehead into the carpet, and I would have to pry her off the ground. She eventually started coming out of her shell once I put out a call for humanitarian volunteers who could dedicate themselves to listening to Liz go through her rym 10/10 albums for the year 2006. Since then, Liz has grown into a healthy and inquisitive woman who has made an incredible contribution to this album.
